FAQs

Just to begin, I would like to answer a few commonly asked questions about nail/hand care at home.

How to make nails strong?
- Olive oil is suggested by people all over the world. My personal favourite is coconut oil, as it is easily available at our place. Be it any oil of your convenience, pour some drops of it in a bowl and soak each hand for at least 8-10 minutes. Give a little massage and then wash it off if you feel necessary. Do this at least once a week for better results.

How to brighten your nails?
- Use lemon juice, it has properties of vitamin C which also promotes stronger growth of your nails. Cut a lemon into half, scrub gently on your nails. Keep it for 5-10 mins and then wash. You can use baking soda too. Just clean your nails and apply baking soda with a toothbrush, scrub gently and then wash. With regular use, you can see visible results. Also, avoid toxic nail paints, prefer only good brands.

How to get pink healthy nails?
- Clean your nail paint with a good remover. I prefer Revlon's extra gentle nail enamel remover. Next, take rose water in cotton and dab it around your nails. Use this regularly for visible results.

How to get rid of dark knuckles?
- Make a paste of baking soda using rose water, apply it on your knuckles and scrub gently using your index finger. Let it dry for 10 minutes and then wash. Use this once a week if you have too dark knuckles, for ones having medium darkness twice or thrice a month would give you satisfying results.

How to get soft hands?
- Aloe vera work wonders, be it any skin or hair related problem. If you feel any burning sensation in your palms, apply aloe vera gel. Wear gloves while doing household chores. Use hand creams or moisturisers often. There are a lot available in the market, buy according to your fragrance preference or budget. If you want to make one at home, make a cream using butter and almond oil. For this you would need two teaspoon of butter and one teaspoon of almond oil. Mix them well and apply to your hands. You can store the leftover mixture for the next use. My personal favourite is baby creams  because I love baby smell, also they moisturise my hands well. At present, I'm using Baby Biotique's Bio Milk.

Well, these are some simple home remedies, I have been using them for years. I have a sensitive skin type and I haven't faced any reactions. If you face any irritations while using any above remedies, wash immediately and consult a doctor if needed. Hope you find these helpful.

Stay gorgeous and Keep reading.

P.s. I'll be posting every Wednesdays and Saturdays.

    1. Thank you for your appreciation Ma'am. For throat care, I would suggest "vocal naps" especially after speaking for long time. Drink fluids often, it's good for voice. If you have a sore throat, simply mix half teaspoon of salt into a glass of water and gargle. You can also consider Honey. Just mix a teaspoon of honey in glass of water and drink it several times in a day.

  8. How should we wash our nails daily specially during this time. Is Dettol better or Lifeboy?

    1. WHO recommends to use any soap/liquid which is nearest to you. It can be dettol, lifebuoy or lux. Just take an ample amount of the soap/liquid and scrub the top and the below part of your nails. For scrubbing there are tools available in the market, if you don't have one, use a toothbrush instead. Leave the starting 4-5 lines of the bristles and chop the rest using a blade. Scrub your nails with gentle pressure and don't forget to moisturize them later. :) :)

    2. Thanks for the information. You said LUX can be used, but I heard it has more acid which can be harmful to skin and nails. Would you still recommend LUX ?
I don't think using LUX would be a good option. Dettol and lifebouy are still better.
